The B1 Family continues to grow and today we would like to introduce you to a new member. We are delighted to present Giancarlo Coletta as our new Coach and Methodology Project Leader.
He further extends the diversity among B1 Soccer Academy and his expertise in communication, leadership, and use of technology for sports analysis brings a whole new dimension to our staff.
We are very excited to be working with such a devout football fanatic, adept linguist, hard-worker and true leader.
“I’m very happy to be part of this project, as well as being able to share wardrobe and office with excellent colleagues like Didi, Eric or Marc. I’m really looking forward to continuing to learn with him and bring my experience to B1. Let’s rock!”
Getting to know Giancarlo
Coletta joins B1 with an impressive dossier, with a Language, Communication & Education Bachelor’s degree at the Università degli Studi di Bari in Italy, and a Master’s degree in Communication, coaching and methodology with current Watford Football Club manager Quique Sánchez Flores.
He also holds the UEFA B and UEFA A coaching licenses from the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF).
The native from Bari, Italy began his coaching career in Spain in 2014 at UE Cornellà –considered one of the finest youth development academies in the region– as the assistant coach to current B1 Head of coaching Marc Fortuny.
His hard work and utter professionalism saw him take over as head coach of that team the following year, and then was promoted to assistant coach for UE Cornellà’s Juvenil B team competing in the Liga Nacional Juvenil.
He was also named video analyst for the team and its opponents in preparation for each match.
Outside of Spain, Coletta has contributed in organizing and running dozens of camps around the world as well as some of the biggest youth tournaments in Europe such as the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC), the Powerade Cup and the Danone Cup.
Coaches and Players reunite at B1
After a period in London, Coletta arrives in Barcelona recommended by our managers Didac Rodriguez and Eric Bertran, with whom he had already worked before.
“Gianca, is a great addition to the team. No doubt a person with his knowledge and skills will add a lot to this team. He is already one of the #B1Family.”
In addition Giancarlo’s arrival sees him reunite with his former head coach Marc Fortuny and former players Miraash Imthiyaz, Daniel Rodriguez and Zac Del Favero who were all together at UE Cornellà.
He now returns to Spain as part of B1 Soccer Academy in what shall surely be a fruitful spell in keeping our academy at the highest level and providing our players with the very best tools to unlock their full potential.
Benvenuto Giancarlo!
