A hard day to assimilate. After being eliminated of the final phase by diverse coincidences. It was time to concentrate and play good in the Consolation phase of MIC 2018!
After B1 Soccer Academy qualifying directly to the to the eight finals, Friday morning our players had some free time. Some decided to relax in the hotel, while others preferred to go and see some of the games at the Campo de Lloret de Mar.
To rest was important to play the game against the Girona, AE Sant Gregori in the Campo Municipal of Cassà de la Selva beginning at 6 pm.
The nerves returned but also the desire to do it well. The objective of the boys of B1 Soccer Academy was clear: “We want to arrive at the finals and win” declared the captain of B1 Soccer Academy, Sergio Alfaro.
6:30 pm: The first part had been clearly dominated by the B1 team, and in spite of having some occasions of goal, we were not able to score. And then we arrived at the halftime tied up 1-1. We still had 25 minutes to get the victory.
We started the second half with the same tone. Without occasions for the AE Sant Gregori and with clear occasions for the forwards of B1. Up to the minute 44, Marco Scarpelli scored his first goal in the game and his third on his particular count. We needed to add an extra goal to give us peace of mind.
Only 6 minutes later, in the last play of the game, the Italian controlled a great long ball from the goalie, Sergio Alfaro, scoring the second goal for our team. The goal that gave us peace of mind and the pass to the quarterfinals.
Going to the Quater Finals
After a victory 2-0 against the AE Sant Gregori, we kept waiting to know our next rival for the quarterfinals. Finally, it was the American team FC Central Los Ángeles, that had won their game with a very comfortable advantage of 4-0 against a Chilean team. Now we knew who the rival was, we only needed to know the headquarters and the time of the match.
Saturday at 11 am in the Campo Municipal Santa Coloma de Farners. The team was ready for the new challenge. To win again and pass to the Semifinals
11:08 am: Now we were playing the 8th minute of the first half when our “pichichi” Marco Scarpelli scored his first goal of the match. The perfect culminating play was a fast pass by the left wing from the other striker Ángel Cocolina.
An early goal that gave some tranquillity to the players of B1 Soccer Academy generating a better soccer of touch. And the following goal did not make itself wait. In the minute 14 another play by Ángel, this time by the right wing. Nacho scored the second goal.
A comfortable victory that gave us access to the semifinals of the consolation phase. The same Saturday afternoon from 7 pm, in Cassá de la Selva waited for us Hapoel Herzliya of Israel. There is less time for achieving the B1 goals!
