B1 Team was invited by coach Didac Rodríguez’s good friend Alberto Manga to play a friendly match and then eat lunch at the Colegio Internacional SEK in Granollers.
The opposing team featured “Juvenil” (Under-19) players from high-level teams from the surrounding area competing in Primera División and Preferente.
The match proved to be difficult for B1 at the start, as it took players time to adapt to a new, more attacking-minded style of play tested out by coaches Marc and Didi.
B1 faced an uphill battle right from the start with the opposing team’s high pressing from strong, athletic players. Nonetheless, the B1 Players demonstrated they were up to the task on two separate occasions, coming back from being 1-0 and 2-1 down.
Once the match was tied at 2-2, B1 found its rhythm and thus began to dominate, scoring three goals to lead 2-5 at halftime.
Marc and Didi’s halftime talk emphasized shifting the focus to keeping the ball and developing chemistry between the players on the pitch. The second half saw B1 take total control, dominating possession and dictating the overall rhythm of the game.
And despite B1’s superiority, the opposition’s ceaseless pressing rewarded them with a consolation goal as the match ended 3-5.
First match for Marc Fortuny as B1 Coach
A new season provides the opportunity for a team to demonstrate its innovation during its first matches.
B1 Soccer Academy featured its first match with Marc Fortuny at the helm, making his debut as head coach and sealing the occasion with a 3-5 victory.
“I am very proud of the boys today, putting out a good performance in a highly intensive and difficult match on a very small pitch. They came from behind on two separate occasions, posed a constant attacking threat and showed great character throughout. Our relentless fighting spirit in difficult situations paid off with an emphatic win. Following the match, we were invited to eat together and we all enjoyed it very much. An all in all great experience.”
Hat trick for B1’s new player Vlad
Vlad Babich channeled the frustration from his debut defeat in the best way possible: scoring goals.
Our player from Baku, Azerbaijan did so magnificently, as he netted three on his second appearance for B1 Soccer Academy.

We are very thankful for Colegio Internacional SEK’s invitation and generous welcoming to their facilities, as they made it possible for players from both sides to enjoy a great afternoon in which sportsmanship prevailed.
